The Pelican spreads its wings with new refurb

A local favourite in Chew Magna has undergone a major refurb

Sitting at the heart of Chew Magna and known to locals as the Peli, The Pelican has been treated to an extensive makeover. Along with a lick of paint in and some new furniture, the pub now also has a wood-fired pizza oven in the garden, which will be fired up every Sunday for pizzas in the courtyard, or to take away.

The event space ‘The Barn’ has also been given a new lease of life with it’s own comprehensive bar and banquet style table which we’re already eyeing up for our own events.

The new menu at this Butcombe pub sports some great local ingredients including Godminster Cheddar bonbons that come with The Pelican sharing board (we managed to tuck away most of that ourselves on a recent visit). And, of course, you can expect a few splashes of beer in the food – think Butcombe-glazed shallots, which you’ll get with the 10oz onglet steak and fries.

To celebrate the new refurb, you could win yourself a £50 voucher to try anything you like from the menu. For a chance to win, head to this Facebook page and tell us, if you owned a pub, what animal would you name it after? Elaborate animal puns most welcome! A winner will be picked at random from the Facebook comments and a winner contacted on 26.7 T&C’s apply, over 18s only
