If you’re kind of over uber-glam standing-room-only wine bars and would prefer somewhere comfortable to relax with a good glass of plonk, then Cru Wines could be the spot for you.
This newly opened Bradford-on-Avon hangout has a comfy lounge vibe, complete with sofas and soft jazz. There are eight house wines on offer by the glass and 200 that can be purchased by the bottle to enjoy onsite or to take home (perhaps jazz really isn’t your thing).
If you get peckish (more like when, right?) there are charcuterie boards on offer, laden with locally sourced cheese and breads, with smaller bar-style nibbles also available.
Owner Leanne Olivier describes herself as a “wine explorer”, notioning that some people “are at the start of their wine journey and some people are a bit further” but that “the journey never ends”.
She and the team at Cru hand-pick all their wines, thinking carefully about each’s story, production methods, taste (obvs) and aesthetic virtues. They’re on hand to navigate guests through the 200-strong collection, and are intent on making the space a friendly and unpretentious one, be you shopping or drinking.
Cru Wines is open now, follow on Instagram for news of upcoming tasting session and events.
