The Potting Shed Café will open its doors once again during Asthall Manor’s on form sculpture biennial this June and July (12 June to 10 July).
Chef Fiona Cullinane and her team are looking forward to welcoming guests to the café, which is set in the idyllic walled garden of Asthall Manor. Fiona will transform the 18th Century stone potting shed in to a “charming eating area” – the old wooden table provides the perfect showcase for the array of imaginative salads and indulgent cakes on offer every day. A pretty outdoor area offers the perfect place to enjoy views of the Windrush Valley and watch the bees at work in the wild flower meadow.
Fiona’s rustic food very much reflects the seasons and she loves to cook with the vegetables from the Kitchen garden – a stone’s throw from the café. Her short, seasonal menu celebrates the English summer and will be vegetarian and dictated by what is available from the potager and promises to delight!
Look forward to feasting on spelt salad with Asthall’s broad beans, mint and goats cheese from the local Windrush Valley, Lebanese beetroot salad with tahini, yogurt and mint dressing, poached summer vegetables with herb aioli…and many more salads, frittatas, tarts and homemade cakes.
New this year, every Saturday throughout on form, Fiona will be handing The Potting Shed over to a series of guest chefs to create their own very special food and atmosphere for the evening.
