Demuths restaurant has been sold after 26 years as one of Bath’s iconic institutions.
Rachel Demuth opened her business to the public in 1987, and the award-winning vegetarian restaurant flourished thanks to the mix of seasonal, local ingredients and world food cooking techniques based on Rachel’s extensive travels through Africa, India, the Far East, and South America.
In response to growing demand for exclusively vegetarian cookery courses, Rachel then launched the Vegetarian Cookery School in 2001 and is now leading cookery travel breaks to some of her favourite food destinations where she shares her knowledge not only of the culture and the local produce but also of the recipes inspired by these journeys.
The new owners of Demuths are Richard Buckly, head chef at Demuths for the past three years and his front of house colleague, Rob Eldon.
Rachel said, “There are many exciting projects in the pipeline. Leaving the restaurant in capable hands means I can focus on my other passions and I look forward to sharing these with everyone.”
