Who’s in for chilled Japanese vibes and sake?
Following its new refurb, 200-year-old pub The Grapes on Bath’s Westgate Street is to team up with local supper club team The Secret Izakaya to launch a brand new food and drink offering in its upstairs space from November.
Budō Bā is an izakaya-style outfit (basically a social and relaxed Japanese pub), the concept having taken off in the UK over the last handful of years. Drinks come in the form of Japanese whiskey, sake and shochu from the bar, while you can expect feeds to come in the form of umami-laced sharing plates, made from local and seasonal ingredients.
Everything is cooked up in the open kitchen – as is the way in izakaya bars – in the surroundings of the Jacobean dining room. Sake tasting evenings and cookery lessons are also planned, so keep your eye peeled for those.
