“Life is too short for ordinary cheese,” says Louise Keedwell-Wirtz, co-founder of L’affinage du Fromage.
Louise and partner Leo regularly appear at the popular Whiteladies Road farmers’ market behind their cheese stall. With business booming, they recently decided to launch an online shop and are already expanding their range to include more cheese than ever before – and even cheese celebration cakes.
“We both have cheese in our blood,” says Louise. “We really want to share our passion, excite our customers and offer the best customer service possible. We always listen to our customers’ recommendations; there are so many different cheeses that we might not have otherwise heard of or tried ourselves and often these have ended up on the list of favourites too!”
Online, there are already around 30 or so artisan cheeses available, sourced both locally and from the continent, all hand-picked by Louise and Leo. There’s everything from recognisable names like Westcombe Cheddar and Cornish Yarg through to French Brie de Meaux Donge and Spanish Manchego.
