Pop-up comedy festival Belly Laughs is back for its second year in January 2019...
A raft of renowned comedians played gigs in independent restaurants, bars and pubs across Bristol in January Last year – as part of the first ever Belly Laughs event. The intention of its creator, local comedian Mark Olver, was to not only get punters into some great indie venues during can often be their quietest month of the year, but also to generate vital funds for the charity Julian Trust.
It was a runaway success, raising over five thousand pounds. The event was nominated and shortlisted for a Crumbs award (and it’s founder Mark Olver even hosted the big night for us).
In a few months, Belly Laughs will return, with gigs planned between 9 and 22 January, promising an even more impressive line-up of comedians and venues. Performers are kept under wraps for now, but that’s all part of the fun. Some of our local favourites signed up to take part so far include Box-E, Gopal’s Curry Shack, B Block Pizza and Pinkman’s Bakery.
The first wave of tickets are available now from our friends over at Wriggle and are being snapped up fast, so get moving. More shows will be added during December so keep your eyes on the @BellyLaughs2 Twitter account.
