If you are going to do Valentine’s Day, make sure you do it with delicious food.

We’re just saying – if you’re going to pick somewhere to celebrate – it may as well be somewhere you really enjoy too. Here are eight ways to celebrate that secretly you’d like to visit on any day of the year.

7. Say it with steak and cocktails at The Ox restaurants

If you can share a Chateaubriand with your significant other without fighting over the last morsel then we commend you. There’s nowhere better to get this choice cut than The Ox.

There’s also a new selection of sharing boards including charcuterie, steak and homemade ice cream.

6. Say it with VAVs (Vol-au-vents)

Head chefs Ross Gibbens and Michael Kennedy will be whipping up a special tasting menu for Valentine's night at Wellbourne . £45 a head includes Champagne and vol-au-vents on arrival and a selection of dishes showcasing seasonal produce.

Tables can be booked by calling Wellbourne on 0117 239 0683.

5. Say it with Cheese

Paxton & Whitfield heart cheese. No, they really do a heart-shaped Coeur de Neufchatel.

This cheese made from unpasteurised cows’ milk is delightfully smooth, just like you. No, you stop it!

Legend has it that during the Hundred Years War, local girls from Neufchâtel-en-Bray used to offer the cheese to English soldiers who were rather taken with it’s heavenly texture. You don’t have to be locked in combat in order to gift this cheese, it’s perfect for any occasion.

4. Say it with Marco Pierre White

It’s a big day, why not roll out one of the biggest in the business? Marco Pierre White is hosting lunch and dinner at his North Somerset restaurants on Tuesday 13 February, providing the perfect opportunity for a special Valentine’s date. There’s the chance to meet Marco and receive a complimentary signed copy of his cookbook as well as a delicious three-course lunch.

3. Say it with a tasty fusion of land and sea

The Old Market Assembly is hosting a heavyweight Surf vs Turf Valentine’s tasting banquet.

“Bring your mates, bring your lover, bring your lovers mates” say the scamps from The Old Market Assembly.

With deep fried oysters, steaks, fries, mussels, sourdough, chicken, and much more on the menu there’s probably not a lot of room for romance left! Check out the full listing here .

2. Say it in Jamaica Street Stores

You had us at Mayan gold croquette, balsamic shallots and parsley creme fraiche.

There’s a 5-course tasting menu on offer at this trendy venue. With prosecco on arrival, a celeriac and apple soup to start and then your choice of four dishes, this is perfect if your date is perhaps a little, how should we say, indecisive. Win them over with confit pork belly, kimchi, spelt and burnt citrus.
